Holiday Time– Keep Technology Away

21st century is an age where our businesses cannot be run without computers and cell phones. Even when we want to take a break from work & retreat on a holiday, we tend to stay linked to our work, thanks to one thing that has transformed our lives– technology.

There are not many of us who can disagree to the fact that we have a habit of checking emails or social networking sites even when we are on a holiday. According to a recent study, it was found that more than 63% of working professionals went operational during their vacation and only about 15% of them could stay away from using the internet during their vacation

Here are a few pointers you can follow in order to make your holiday pleasurable:
  • Keep the phone away– Carry your phones with you only when necessary. Try not to use your phone when you are out exploring, doing something wild or just chilling at the beach.
  • Clear your mailbox– Clear your office mailbox before you leave for your holiday. Flag important communications or forward them to a coworker who can keep an eye on them on your behalf while you are gone.
  • Set up the Vacation Auto Response– Fix up your automatic reply declaring that you are on holiday so that individuals will not presume that you would answer back.
  • No Gadgets– Keep all your internet gadgets away like laptops and smart phones. Switch your smart phone for a simple phone that cannot link to the internet.
The greatest thing to do is to go out and enjoy! Odds are that the more you enjoy, the less you feel the need to stay connected to your work. So scrap away the stress and enjoy your vacation.

Slow Down – Excessive work is bad for your heart.

Slow Down – Excessive work is bad for your heart.

A new research found that individuals who operated 11 hours or more a day were more possible to have a heart attack related to persons who work regular seven- or eight-hours a day.

This investigation was taken after calculating well-known threat issues for heart disease such as obesity, smoking and high level of cholesterol.

With challenging superiors and hectic workplace atmosphere, it’s easy to sense stress at work.
While a little stress can help you get dynamic but continuing stress can increase the risk of heart related syndromes.

Individuals who worked up to 10 hours a day were equivalent to those who worked less in terms of heart risk.

But once they crossed the 11-hour verge, there was a severe upsurge in the heart disease threat percentage.

Our Involuntary actions of the body such as heart beats are regulated by the Autonomic Nervous system i.e. ANS which plays a vital role in neuroendocrine stress responses. The ANS sends signals to heart and thus controlling the variability of the heart rate.

Work stress leads to instability in the heart rate. The effect on the ANS and neuroendocrine function in turn distresses the signals to the heart, leading to heart related disorders.

So always remember to get up from the chair and take a lap around the office regularly to keep the body flow active. Such small changes and regular exercise along with proper diet can help you lower your health risks.

Summer Time – Chill Time... The Healthy way

Summer is the warmest of the four temperate seasons. The extensive heat rays leave us exhausted and thirsty. The very thought of summer brings on the heat. It sends streams of sweat down the spine, especially when you are thumped into the midst of scorching heat and relentless humidity.
We advise you to beat this heat in a healthy and natural way.
Things to eat –
The diet should be light and we should try avoiding oil and fried food preparations. Dehydration is the primary concern when it comes to heat. Thus, Lemon juice, Kheer, Fresh fruit juices can be taken on regular intervals to maintain the fluids in our body. If we can put a habit of drinking a glass of water before going out it in the sun, it will substantially reduce the chances of a heat stroke.
It is very important to keep the body cooled as the intensive heat may lead to stress and digestive difficulties. Consumption of milk products such as Buttermilk, milkshakes, and food prepared by using ghee and butter are suitable to keep the body cool and strong. Diet should be properly constituted and fried, salty and spicy foods should be avoided.
Fruits such as watermelon, mango, grapes, apples, muskmelon and cucumber help calm the digestion process and are considered beneficial.
Consumption of soft drinks, ice cream and canned fruit juices in the sun should be avoided as far as possible as they elevate the effect of heat. They encourage acidity and thus upsurge internal heat of the body.

Things to wear –
Summer brings the flow of hot winds generally known as “Looh”. As a result of this we may suffer from dehydration and become inclined to diseases resulting from the dry and humid weather.
The flow of air in the body should be maintained as it helps in refreshing the pores on the skin. This helps to reduce the moisture and helps sweat evaporation.

Use of cotton fabrics is advisable as it is light and maintains the air flow in the body. Denims are very popular and light and cool shades of Denims can be used.

The spirit of summer clothing is feeling graceful and comfy and so preferably light colors should be used for summer clothing. White is the season color as the color reflects heat and helps in keeping the body calm. Light pastels colors ensure high level protection against the high level of ultraviolet rays of the sun.

Jiyo Life this monsoon in Munnar

The monsoons are here & we should all be out there trying to make the most of it. Some of you will play football in the rains, while some will go trekking . There are some who enjoy having a cup of tea with some hot bhajiyas. Now we will tell how to make this monsoon more special by visiting one of the beautiful places we have here in India. The place is Munnar. Now don’t tell us that you have never heard of this place!

The name Munnar is derived from the words munnu aar . Munnu meaning three while aar meaning rivers. Situated at the confluence of three mountain streams - Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala in Idukki district of Kerala, the place has become one of the hottest tourist destinations in India. Placed at height of 2000 to 2600 meters above sea level, the climate here is fantastic. The air is crisp, clear and unpolluted & the temperature normally hovers between 0°C - 25° Celsius. The place was once a summer destination of the erstwhile British Government in South India.

Munnar is full of greenery and mist and once you visit there you will be greeted by miles and miles of tea gardens. It has the highest peak in South India, Anamudi. Towering over 2695 meters the place is an ideal location for trekkers. An exotic flower, Neelakurinji blooms every 12  years & bathes the hill in blue color. The Nilgiris, which means the blue mountain received its name from this flower.

Here are some of the must visit places in Munnar this monsoon:

Rajamala: This place is situated 2695 meters above sea level & is about 15 kms from Munnar. It is famous for the Nilgiri Tahrs which is the state animal of Tamil Nadu. An endangered species, more than half of these thars or goats, about 1300, can be found over here.

Eravikulam National Park:
Situated in Devikulam taluka of Idukki district, this 97 sq.km. park is home of the Nilgiri Tahrs. The Anamudi peak is situated in the southern part of this park. The place is covered with evergreen trees which makes it beautiful and is one of the best mountain ranges that we have in India.

Pothamedu:  This place offers an excellent view of the vast tea, cardamom and coffee plantations in Munnar. It is ideal for mountain walk as it offers a view of the lush green beautiful hills and mountains. Nature at its best.

Matutupetty: Around 13 kms from Munnar & 1700 meters from sea level this place is famous for the Indo-Swiss live stock project. Visitors are allowed into three of the eleven cattle sheds where you will find over 100 varieties of high yielding cattle being reared. There is also the Mattupetty Lake & Dam which is a favorite picnic spot.

 Nyayamakad:
Located between Munnar and Rajamala, Nyayamakad has some beautiful and breathtaking waterfalls some of which are at a height of 1600 meters. The scenic surroundings will make you mesmerize in natures wonder.

Pallivasal :
Again a place with some awesome scenery, this place also has the first Hydro Electric Project in Kerala.

Attukal :
Located between Munnar and Pallivasal, the place has some of the best views of the waterfalls. Watch the Attukkal waterfalls where white foaming water descends down from a great height and creates cloud of mist. Attukal is also one of the most photographed attractions of Munnar.

Chithirapuram:
Home to the Pallivasal Hydel Power Project, this is a sleepy town with old cottages and bunglows which gives it a distinct charm. There are also spice nurseries owned by the Kerala Spice Board.
Lock Heart Gap:
Located 13 km from Munnar this place is famous for adventure tourism and trekking. If you want to spend some priceless moments of solitude this is the place to be.

Devikulam:
Located 7 km from Munnar this place is famous for the Sita Devi Lake, where it is believed that Lord Rama and Goddess Sita took bath thus consecrating the water with curative powers. You can also find bluish and red rubber trees here.

That’s all about Munnar. Do visit, enjoy your monsoon and Jiyo Life.
